communityHappy Home Communities was founded in 2010 as a Georgia based non-profit organization for the purpose of enabling decent affordable housing, apartments crime prevention, property management education and neighborhood stabilization. The concept & mission for Happy Homes came out of founder and principal Brent Sobol's 15+ years working in a very hands-on way, in the repositioning of 12 very 'broken & blighted' apartment communities, single family homes and condominiums in the Atlanta Metropolitan area.

The ultimate goal of an affordable housing organization should be to create a "happy home" for their residents.

Additionally, it is a goal of Happy Home Communities that low-income, 'affordable' rental housing does not have to mean 'bad' or 'dangerous' housing.

To create a "happy home" for one's residents, a professional affordable housing nonprofit must do the following 10 items with diligence:

  1. Be accessible to one's residents,
  2. Take action to deter crime,
  3. Take a hard stand against unauthorized residents,
  4. Focus on creating an environment within your apartment community that supports the family unit,
  5. Keep curb appeal tidy,
  6. On the inside, fix it when it breaks,
  7. Encourage American values,
  8. Hold educational & fun resident activities,
  9. Encourage utilities conservation,
  10. Define high operating standards for your staff and hold them to it.

Hopefully, the items on this website will inspire you so that we can all take part in creating thriving and happy neighborhoods & homes!
